[1] And the Golden Dragon led his three companions to a new dimension. The Four Dragons quickly became bored.
[2] “Come on my friends,” said the Red Dragon, “let us head for the hills. Let us steal the gold from within and mint me a bed of coins!” “I take offense to that,” said the Golden Dragon.
[3] “No,” said the Green Dragon, “let us fly into the forest and remain there; singing with the birds and eating the deer whenever we please!”
[4] “You know,” said the White Dragon, “this place isn’t fun without a human species to kick around. I say let’s whip some up.”
[5] The Golden Dragon looked around at the lands; devoid of cities and farms and other things humans would destroy the environment with. He nodded, “A sound plan.”
[6] The Four Dragons went to the four winds; the Green Dragon went to the east for some wood,
the White Dragon went to the north for some snow, the Golden Dragon went to the south for some magic, and the Red Dragon, giggling, went to the west for some gold.
[7] With these materials, the dragons created ten men and ten women. The men all had massive beards, nerdy glasses, and a taste for awful beer; the women all had varied interests and ideas and were generally more interesting to chat with.
[8] When this was done, the Gold Dragon drew the short straw and spoke, “Go, little humans, build societies and kingdoms and cities; make yourselves at home.”
[9] With such encouragement from the dragons, the humans led themselves into their new dimension. The dragons quickly bored themselves into the earth and took a nap; for about a millennium.
[10] When the dragons awoke and poked their heads above the surface, the little humans seemed to have made themselves at home.
[11] There were breweries along the rivers, all of them making similar sorts of awful beer. There were kingdoms of varied interests and ideas; all of them were generally interesting in different ways.
[12] The humans had gone to the four winds; they built their cities out of wood in the east, snow in the north, magic in the south, and gold in the west.
[13] The Golden Dragon looked around at the lands; filled with cities and farms and terrible breweries and other things the humans were destroying the environment with. He covered his ears in pain, “The sounds of this plain…” The Four Dragons decided to go their separate ways.
[14] The White Dragon went north and found some humans to kick around. She sat in a palace of ice and was served whipped cream for centuries thereafter.
[15] The Green Dragon went into the forest where she sang with the birds and ate deer whenever she pleased. The humans wanted her out of “their” forest but as she could just as easily have human for dinner, she remained there.
[16] The Red Dragon stole all the gold of the hills. He forced the humans to mint him millions of coins and he sat giggling on his bed of gold jinglies.
[17] The Golden Dragon took offense to what his companions had done. He went to the south and allied with the magicians there. He spent his days chatting with the humans, trying to come up with a plan to fix the suffering and foolishness his companions were causing…
[18] At least, the Golden Dragon thought, the Four Dragons had cured their boredom.
